Play Online

We use IRC and a peice of software called Hamachi to play online with each other. Hamachi makes a network over the internet so that we can use LAN mode in Red Alert 3 to play! Be sure to come on our IRC channel if you want to play.

Hamachi Network Details

We have multiple Hamachi networks because of the amount of users and the limit of users in each network.

Network Names: rtsu.redalert3 / rtsu.redalert3_1 / rtsu.redalert3_2 / rtsu.redalert3_3 /  rtsu.redalert3_4 /  rtsu.redalert3_5 /  rtsu.redalert3_6/ rtsu.redalert3_7 / rtsu.redalert3_8 / rtsu.redalert3_retail

Password: rtsu

Please do NOT join all the networks. You should only join one network when you are ready to play with someone and get them to join the same network.

Text Guide

Install Hamachi

- Tick "Create shortcut on the desktop"

- Tick "Disable vulnerable Windows srvices over Hamachi

- Select "Use Hamachi with Non-commercial license"

Setup Hamachi

- Click Power On (bottom left) button. Type an Account nickname, this should be the same as your IRC/Forum user name. Click Create.

- Wait for it to connect. You will see a "5.x.x.x" number and your nickname at the top.

- Click Configure (bottom right), goto Preferences. Goto Messaging on the left. Untick "Enable messaging". This will stop you geting spam. Click Ok.

- Hamachi should say "New system message" on the taskbar, click this. Click Yes to seting a Master Password. Enter a password and click Change.

Join Red Alert 3 Universe's Hamachi Network

- Click Create to join networks (middle right) button. Go to "Join an ecisting network".

- Enter network name "rtsu.redalert3" with password "rtsu". Click Join.

You can now play Red Alert 3 in LAN mode over the internet with us. You should also do the Hamachi fix:

You should do this just to be sure that Red Alert 3 will work correctly for Hamachi play.

Windows XP (Make sure your a administrator user)

Click on Start > Control Panel > Network Connections. Click Advanced on the file menu (after tools). If you cant see it click Alt on the keyboard.

Move Hamachi to the top of the list. Click Ok. You may need to restart your computer now.

Vista (Make sure your a administrator user)

Click on Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center.

Click Manage network connections. New window should come up (Network and Internet > Network Connections)

At this screen hit the Alt key on your keyboard to make the File menu come up.

Click Advanced on the file menu (after tools). Go to Advanced Settings will give Network Adapters & Bindings Order.

Click Continue if UAC comes up. Move Hamachi to the top of the Connections list and click OK.

You may need to restart your computer now.

Make sure you have the Hamachi IP (the one starting with a 5.) set in Red Alert 3 on Settings > Network.

Playing Multiplayer

- Find someone to play with in the IRC channel.

- Make sure you are both in the same Hamachi network. Its best if you just in one network at a time.

- Load the game, go to Versus > Network and Create or Join a match.

Multiplayer Problems?

If you are having problems such as timeouts, kicked from game, CD key in use try the following:

- Make sure you have done EVERYTHING on this page and restarted.

- Disable all firewalls

- Forward ports for Hamachi, guide here.

- Leave all Hamachi networks apart from one with the person you want to play with.

- If your hosting the game try and start the game and quickly after a player joins the game.

- If your joining a game set your settings (faction, color) as quickly as possible and click ready.
